What would happen, if people with special abilities saved the world from the evil, that they would be able to turn into weapons, or using the changed weapons? What would be, if they were collecting souls, partly in order not to harm, partly in favour of their own development. And what would be, if these people were held by an institution? Tell you something? All this is reality!
At least in Soul Eater's world. At the first sight it doesn't look like an average anime - as well as it operates with the too common " school kids play heroes" basic - but still differs from the well known script. Why? Apparently not saving the World gets the biggest emphasis, rather the relationship between people, especially the question of friendship and camaraderie, besides overcome the evil just serve incidentally, because every doing, every newer action (and certainly the most episodes) presents the endurance alongside each other as the followed example in front of the viewer.
HAMMHAMM, YUMMYUMM
The basic situation is the next: somewhere in the desert a town and a school exist, where the future weapon masters and their partners, the students who turn into weapons learn. The Academy lead by the Death God Master - probably don't have to present the deathgods or the shinigamies. The first sight seems to be funny Master represents the incarnation of power and the good side along the anime, his helpers are the students , some of them stand out with their talent. The main characters are the weapon-weapon master duo, Soul and Maka
are poweful and persistent, but they are still kids and thanks to this they also make mistakes sometimes. That's why it is possible that when we know them in the beginning of the story, they don't seem more elite students than the others - but this way it is good, because even their mistakes make the characters so lovely. The forever loud Black Star and Tsubaki become their partners so as the Death God Master's son Kid and his guns, Liz and Patty. Next to them many other important characters come up in the story of course, but they are , who actually advance the plot, and not at last, they are ,fom whose mistakes we can learn. There is no lack of opponents, because not only the witches, the Academy's ancient enemies attact, but also the Demon God, who is the perfect opposit of Death God Master. Besides even greater or smaller enemies show up, who mainly serve the follow-up of main characters development, but luckily not in flat little fillers, but in enjoyable episodes.
TIM BURTON HITS BACK?
Who knows Tim Burton's works, that might notices some similarities between Soul Eater's pictorial appearance and the well-known artist' world. (And its "irgum-burgum" to whom doesn't know Tim Burton, and go to Google!) Much could be spoken about that it is accidental or intentional, but the main thing : it goes well with the story. Maybe the happily laughing Sun, which sleeps with its flowing saliva at twilight, could appear a little absurd, or the not at all peaceful face of the Moon, but the thicker contours, the special sight gives a plus to the story, what defines the mood basics.
ONCE, TWICE, MORE TIMES?
Soul Eater without fillers still belongs to the middle-long series with its 51 parts, which were adapted from the first half of the running manga, so they solved the close of the series by an alternative end. The director's solution is completely okay, the most previous lines are "sewed", but the manga's story differs from the series at one point, so if we ask further fascinating addition from delicious souls, and of course we want to follow-up the meanwhile liked small team's destiny, than it is highly recommended reading the manga. Guaranteed it won't cause you dissapointment.
Summarizing, Soul Eater basically gives you a great entertainment, at the first time it is pretty sure, but for second and third trying it could appear, that we would rather try a version consisting more endurance, probably we would watch the side story presented on the next two neighbour pages. So we suggest for all, who loves the animes with full of action, the uproarious humor and the strong colours, as well as who doesn't turn off the video immediatelly, if an annoying character appears.
